The Performance 4 series of terminal servers provides a practicalsolution for connecting terminals on an Ethernet local-area network (LAN)in a mixed-vendor environment. Any terminal user can communicate with anyUNIX or DEC system on the LAN, assuming appropriate privileges. ThePerformance 4 series offers full compatibility with the Local AreaTransport (LAT) protocol and/or the Transmission Control/InternetProtocol (TCP/IP) standard, so servers can operate with virtually alltypes of computer systems.Performance 4 terminal servers are flexible and compact. Base unitsare available in 16- or 32-port configurations. The 16-port unit can beexpanded to 32 ports by adding a 16-port expansion unit.A unique feature of the Performance 4 16- or 32-port base unit is thehigh-speed parallel printer port, which operates at speeds up to 3lines per minute.
